2015: “It’s Too Late; I’m Sorry,” Obasanjo’s Humiliating Response to Jonathan in Presence of Adeboye, Oyedepo

Jonathan was said to have seriously apologized to Obasanjo, especially for all the negative things people like Doyin Okupe and others had said about him in the past.
But Obasanjo reportedly refused to shift ground insisting that it was too late to back Jonathan.
At the meeting were two Christian leaders – Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and Bishop David Oyedepo of the Winners’ Chapel – who attended at Obasanjo.

According to a source, Obasanjo deliberately requested the two prominent clergymen to be present as witnesses at the meeting to prove the point that it is Jonathan who actually caused disaffection between them by reneging on previous decisions they jointly reached.
While Obasanjo may have had issues with the way the president had ran the country and how he failed to honour previous agreements reached, what reportedly irked him was Jonathan’s statement in which he referred to  some  elder statesmen behaving as ‘motor park touts’, a classification, Obasanjo reportedly took in bad faith.
The source said Obasanjo had invited the two clergymen to witness the meeting which he grudgingly accepted to host because of the respect he has for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“What really irked Baba is the reference by Jonathan to some Nigerian elder statesmen as behaving as ‘motor park touts’ a day before begging him to grant him audience in Abeokuta.
The man really feels insulted by such unfortunate outburst from the president of a country.
“There was no need to enter into any peace deal with Jonathan because similar deals done in the past only resulted in more attacks by him and his aides on Baba only for them to come begging for forgiveness once it is close to election.”
Obasanjo reportedly posed some questions to the president which he could not answer to the satisfaction of the former president.
*Did you agree to run for only one term or not?
*What did you tell me was your reasons for not going against Boko Haram insurgents even when i told you this will boomerang?
*What happened to Nigeria’s external reserves and Sovereign Wealth Fund?
*DId you give licence o Niger Delta militants (Dokubo and Tompolo) to imort arms in the name of their privately owned companies? If so, for what reason?
*Did you not get correspondent from the United States Consulate that a certain citizen named Buruji Kashamu is indicted for drug trafficking? Why did you appoint the same kashamu as South West leader of PDp rather than hand him over to the US? And did the PDP give automatic senate ticket to a wanted and convicted dtug baron?
A source close to the meeting who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he is not allowed to speak to the media, put the above questions as those Obasanjo posed to Jonathan.
It was at this point that the former president reportedly told Jonathan that it is too late to support him.
“It’s too late; I’m sorry,” Obasanjo reportedly told Jonathan.
It was gathered that Jonathan and some top leaders of the PDP, who had requested for the meeting with Obasanjo felt disappointed with its outcome and may not push the idea of mending fences with the former leader again.
